Smart Sun Club's Tanning Experts have answers for You!

Q:   I have noticed that my face is drier after I tan and I am getting more lines. I do smile a lot, so I have to use a rich cream, not a lotion. I use a lotion accelerator during the tanning. How I can prevent lines?

A:   To completely diagnose why you may be experiencing these issues, we must consider several factors. First, facial skin is much thinner than the rest of the skin on your body. Therefore if you are using the same tanning accelerator on your face - you may experience excessive drying of the skin. Second, if you notice burning on your face, pinkish tint or redness four or more hours after tanning - you may be over exposing this skin.

Both of these issues can easily be remedied by using a specially formulated facial accelerator. We recommend Matahari Lustrous by Cal Tan - just for the face. This product offers excellent moisturizing Qualities and includes a firming gel to enhance the elasticity for more sensitive skin. Priced at $20 - this small investment is well worth it - for an ageless, sun kissed look.

Q:   What are the best ways to get darker?

A:   Your tanning schedule has the greatest impact on your results. Tanning too often can be just as detrimental as tanning less often. When you plan your schedule, always give your tan time to develop. For best results we recommend never tanning more than three times in a row without taking a day off.

Q:   What's the best schedule for someone just starting?

A:   In three to four visits per week, never tanning more than two consecutive days in a row, with a moderate increase in session length. Too often, tanners will be aggressive in the beginning, get sunburn and delay the whole process.

Q:   How can I get rid of my "Farmer Brown" tan?

A:   It's not uncommon for active guys and gals to have tan lower arms and legs, but less color everywhere else. If you or someone you know is in this situation don't despair. For Quick results, jump-start your new look with 6 sessions accompanied by a moisturizing accelerator. When you tan, simply rest your arms above your head cushion in the bed. This maximizes the exposure to your upper arms - while minimizing exposure to tanned areas. You may also want to consider covering your lower legs until your upper body and thighs catch up. In a few short sessions you will have a great, even base tan you can darken and maintain year round.
